Class of 2015 Graduates

On Friday, May 8, 2015, Commencement was held at the Ballard High School. The ceremony started with the graduates walking in to “Pomp & Circumstance,” played by Mrs. Raelynn Kershner. Mr. Jimmie Barton gave an opening welcome speech and then introduced the eighth grade graduates of the Class of 2019. They were handed their certificates that showed that they are ready to advance to the high school level by the President of the Board of Education, Mrs. Tina Oerke.

Salutatorian James Engelhardt, son of Charles and Lawanda Engelhardt, gave a heartwarming speech about his memories with his classmates and looking forward to the future. He ended his speech by giving thanks and saying his good-byes. The Class of 2015 then honored their parents with a presentation of roses with the class’s favorite songs playing and a PowerPoint presentation of the seniors, created by Mrs. Kerri Loyd.

After the graduates returned to their seats, Valedictorian Samantha Walsh, daughter of Dan and Karla Walsh, gave her touching speech that was filled with memories of her classmates and advice to the Class of 2019.

Awards and scholarships were then presented to the deserving seniors by Ballard’s Counselor William Franklin  and members of the community. Mr. Franklin had the senior’s step forward and tell their future plans, and individual scholarships were then given.

Superintendent, Mr. John Siebeneck, presented two members of the Ballard Board of Education with a plaque of appreciation: Richie Eidson for serving for six years, and Rusty Binder for serving for three years.

Principal, Mr. Jimmie Barton, presented the Class of 2015 to the President of the School Board, Mrs. Tina Oerke, for the presentation of their diplomas. To end the ceremony, Senior President, Samantha Walsh, led the class in the turning of their tassels.

Following that, the graduates made their way out of the gym for the last time to the song “Come Back To Me” by David Cook with a flower presented by the junior class.

We would like to wish the graduating class of 2015 good luck in everything they do!
