Science Fair and Art Show

On Friday, April 21, 2017, the school hosted the second annual science fair and art show. During the art show, students were placed from first to third and two honorable mentions. For the jr. high and high school, our first place winner was Savana Allen with her artwork titled Midnight. Kelsie Karo was in second with her Victorian Owl, and Mikayla Pray came in third with her Palm Tree Sunset. Kelsie also got Honorable Mention with her Reba McIntyre, and Maddy Murray won an Honorable Mention with her Michael Jackson.

The elementary winners were Jada Gains, with her Fiesta in first place, Tory Snyder with Birch Forrest in second place, Sam Setzer with Jelly World  in third place. The two Honorable Mentions were Kamryn Beachner and Kenadee Allen. Mrs. DesCombes wrote, “Ballard Students never cease to amaze me with their artworks.”

For the science fair, students set up their work along the bleachers. Each class had to cover a certain kind of science theme. This year, the eighth grade picked their own projects, some of them being Borax Crystals, Ferro fluid, and Oobleck. The seventh and eighth grade also created paper rollercoasters and tested them out at the fair. Both events went extremely well; we hope next year we can have them both again!
