Welcome to another great year at the Ballard -2 School District!
For those of you who do not know me I would like to give you a little biography of myself. I grew up on a farm in a very rural area 15 miles outside of Jefferson City, MO. I had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. I was the 3rd youngest, with all my sisters being older than I. The day after I graduated from high school I joined the United States Army (National Guard). After serving time in the National Guard and working, and then going to college I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Central Missouri State University (CMSU). I later earned a Master’s Degree and a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from William Woods University. I taught gymnastics for the spring semester at a Magnet School in the Kansas City, Missouri School District before coming to Ballard in 1990.
I am in my 26th year of educating our students here at Ballard. The first 15 years here I was the Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director. During those 15 years I also taught middle school Social Studies for 10 years. I was the boys Varsity Basketball Coach for 16 years and the Varsity Volleyball coach 14 years. I also coached Baseball for at least 10 years. In the first 10 years I also coached Softball, girls Varsity Basketball, and junior high boys and girls Basketball. In 2005 I became the Principal. In 2011 I became the Superintendent. My wife (whose is a teacher at a neighboring district) and I have been married for 8 years. We have two children who are students here at Ballard.
I am so blessed to be part of such a great school district and community. I am so proud to be serving this district and to be able to touch so many lives but yet in turn to have them touch my life as well.
My advice to any young person coming out of high school is to live life to its fullest. Don’t be afraid to go out on your own and be what you want to be. While doing this, experience any great adventure that you have the opportunity to, whether this is with a job, travel, activity in college and in life in general.
